WHAT’S THE GAME PLAN?
On Fear, Patience & Dreams

For today’s newsletter, I wanted to share some real thoughts and notes to myself from my journal.
If you write, you know the power and positive change it can have on your life.
If you haven’t started, I really encourage you to.
Sometimes writing things down helps us understand ourselves in ways we can’t when everything stays trapped in our heads.

1. ON FEAR

Today, as I was driving home from work,
I had a thought. I thought about how fear of failure is not actually what we fear.
What we fear is how will people react to our failures or what will people say and think. So what we do instead is not act at all. The fear of what people will say is a greater fear than failure itself. And then I thought, what a f*cking sh*tty way to live.

2. ON PATIENCE

It can take 10 years to “make it”.
Do you have the patience? How bad do you really want it?

3.ON CHASING OUR DREAMS

When we’re young we have all these dreams and goals we want to accomplish and we never think that it can’t happen or we don’t have any self doubt.

When I was younger I remember writing about all the things I wanted to do and be when I was older.
The list was super long but nowhere did I write about the fears or doubts I had.

When we’re young those things don’t even cross our minds.
We don’t think about the obstacles or hurdles,
we just know we have dreams we want to achieve.
In our minds, when we’re young, anything is possible.

And then I don’t know what happens to us as adults.
We suddenly start to believe the negativity in our brains. As adults, we start to think of all the things that could go wrong instead of removing those thoughts from our minds that keep us from taking action.
I really do believe that the people who continue to chase their dreams and actually achieve them is because they don’t lose this childhood mentality.

I don’t think we lose because we fail.
I think we lose because we stop believing things are possible for us and we stop trying.
Maybe the secret is to stop overthinking and trust ourselves a little more.
And to chase our dreams the same way we did when we were younger, fearlessly.

That’s it.
That’s the game plan.

Remember, 1% better every day, and small wins are WINS!
