WHAT’S THE GAME PLAN?
on BURNOUT and GETTING BACK ON TRACK

I always thought:

“If you love something, you won’t get tired.”

But that’s not true.
You can have a passion for something …and still burn out from it.

This isn’t the first time I’ve felt burnout.
But it is the first time it’s lasted this long…
to the point where I didn’t know if I could pick myself back up.

For some reason, I thought if I ignored it,
it would just disappear.

Now that I’m writing that out…that makes no sense.

I used to think the answer was simple:

Do more.
Push harder.
Tell myself everything is fine.

But that doesn’t fix burnout.
Ignoring it definitely doesn’t fix it either.

There has to be a real change within myself.
I kept telling myself, slowing down wasn’t an option, until I ran out of gas completely.

The burnout didn’t come out of nowhere.
I just ignored the signs until I couldn’t anymore.

Through this experience, I’ve learned that burnout isn’t a weakness, and now that I’ve accepted it, I know it’s an opportunity for growth.

5 things on Burnout and Getting Back on Track⬇️

1. Stop trying to show up perfectly

Trying to show up perfectly all the time will burn you out.
The more you pressure yourself to show up perfectly and give 100% every day,
the harder it becomes to show up at all.
It’s not always about showing up at your best.
Today’s best will look different than yesterday’s best, and that’s okay.

2. Watch for shiny object syndrome

Not everything is worth chasing.

Moving with intention matters, and it can get hard when you get excited
about starting new little things,
until you realize you’ve spread yourself too thin chasing everything.

Not everything deserves your energy,
and not everything is worth going after.

One thing I’ve realized: when everything has your attention,
nothing really has your full focus.

3. Refill your tank

You can’t keep pouring from empty.
Rest isn’t optional. It’s necessary.

4. Give yourself grace

Beating myself up for how I got here isn’t going to make this better.

I’ve had to tell myself:
I’ve never been here before.
I’m handling this the best way I know how.

5. Ask yourself the right questions

When you hit a point like this, you have to start asking yourself the right questions to understand why you got here in the first place.

There came a point where I was just doing things… just to do them.

No real reason why.
Yes, I want to keep going, but for what?

If I’m going to pick myself out of this burnout,
I need clarity again and that’s starts by asking myself the right questions.

Most importantly, and the biggest thing I’ve learned is this:
You don’t have to rush your way back into momentum or force yourself overnight to get back to where you were before. It’s going to take time.

Some realizations don’t come from forcing answers…
they come from slowing down.

Remember, 1% better every day, and small wins are WINS!
