QUOTE OF THE WEEK

WHAT’S THE GAME PLAN?
FIND JOY IN THE STRUGGLE

It’s hard to imagine a life without pain. Even Buddha said, "Life is suffering."

I don’t think he meant it in a negative way — more as a reminder that struggle is simply part of being human.

Life doesn’t always go our way. It’s not always easy, fun, or fair. But knowing that helps us face challenges head-on instead of wishing they didn’t exist.

Most of us dream of a life with no suffering. But if there were no struggle, what would that say about growth, about strength, about becoming who we’re meant to be?

This week’s Game Plan is about finding the joy in the struggle.

Here are three quotes from athletes that remind us that
suffering is not the end — it’s part of the journey. ⬇️

1."You have to find the joy in suffering. I think that’s the key."
— Carlos Alcaraz

Finding the joy in suffering means facing challenges and pain through a different lens — seeing it as an opportunity for growth.

The word suffering sounds negative, but what we become through it doesn’t have to be. It's not about loving the pain itself; it's about valuing who you are becoming because of it.

2."I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’"
— Muhammad Ali

A lot of times, we aren’t willing to trade temporary discomfort for lifelong success.

We focus on what we want right now instead of
what we know we truly want for our future.
In a way, it’s like cheating ourselves — or turning our backs
on the future version of us.
Sometimes it helps to look at it this way:
Am I making a decision that will make my future self proud — or disappointed?

3."Struggling and suffering are the essence of a life worth living. If you’re not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you’re not demanding more from yourself — expanding and learning as you go — you’re choosing a numb existence. You’re denying yourself an extraordinary trip."
— Dean Karnazes

Pain and suffering are inevitable.

It’s hard to believe that anything worth chasing or achieving doesn’t come with some kind of physical or mental pain.
Think about school, sports, your job — some of your proudest moments.
Looking back, didn’t most of them involve at least a little struggle?

Once we realize that suffering is a part of everyday life,
we can shift our focus. Instead of wasting energy trying to avoid it,
we can work on changing what we can — and accepting what we can’t.

Suffering isn’t something to fear. It’s something to face.

That’s it.
That’s the game plan.

We can’t avoid suffering.
But we can choose what we suffer for.
Would you rather endure the pain of chasing your
goals — or the pain of wishing you had?

Endure the discomfort. Endure the moments of doubt.
Endure the slow progress. Endure not having it all figured out.
That’s the price of growth. And it’s worth it.

Remember, 1% better every day, and small wins are WINS!
