QUOTE OF THE WEEK

WHAT’S THE GAME PLAN?
Why Most People Don't Start

I’m not sure who said this quote, but “the best time to start was yesterday, the second best time to start is today.”

Do you have some goals this year that you haven’t started? Not because you didn’t want to, but because something else was holding you back from even starting.

Here are 3 reasons why most people don’t start and how you can be different: ⬇️

1.FEAR OF FAILURE

Honestly, I think everybody deals with fear. The difference is some people let it stop them from going after what they want and others don’t. Recognizing that you have fear of failure is okay, but don’t let it get in the way of your goals and dreams. When it comes to fear of failure, you just need to push through and keep going.

You can be scared and still show up for yourself. Along the journey of following your dreams, you will probably hit some obstacles and experience some failures, but the important thing is to persist and stay in motion.

I’m taking this quote and putting it somewhere I can see every day:
'If you want to increase your success rate, double your failure rate.'
- Thomas Watson, CEO of IBM.

2.FEAR OF WHAT OTHERS THINK

Why do we care so much about what people think?
When something means so much to us, it shouldn’t matter what others think. It would be silly to stop chasing your dreams and goals simply because you’re worried about others’ opinions. Worrying about what people think is normal; I’m guilty of it. But what I’m saying is, don’t let it stop you from doing what you need to do for yourself.

At the end of the day, caring about what people think only affects you. And if you think about it, if you’re really concerned about what people around you will say, maybe they aren’t the most positive people to have in your circle. Good or bad, people will think what they want. Don’t that stop you from moving forward.

3.ACTION OVER PERFECTION

Are you waiting for the perfect moment? Are you reading countless books, listening to podcasts and buying a lot of online courses hoping for that moment that you feel completely ready?

Don’t get me wrong, doing the research is great but some people get so caught up in this step that they delay actually starting. I know it may not seem like it, but you don’t need to have it all figured out before you start.

You can’t compare your level 1 to someone’s level 100. Can you get there? Sure. But that requires starting before you think you’re ready, figuring it out along the way, and taking it one level at a time. Next time you find yourself in research mode, set a deadline for when you’ll start taking action. Taking small steps now is better than waiting for that “perfect moment” feeling.

That’s it. That’s the game plan. I hope this helps motivate you to start some new goals or revisit some old ones.

Remember, 1% better every day, and small wins are WINS!
